Hollow Hickory Homestead has been owned and operated by the Dykstra family for over six decades. Kendall and Amanda Dykstra are raising their four children to have a love and passion for the outdoors, embracing all the beauty that nature has to offer. Their love of conservation and preservation of the natural world around us has led them to take an active role in understanding, developing and improving the health of the local ecosystem. Hollow Hickory Homestead understands the benefit of having healthy soils with diverse plant life. To obtain this healthy balance, it is essential to have plenty of pollinators. The Dykstra family accomplishes this goal by creating a beautiful apiary system, that any bee would “bee” proud to call home. The fringe benefit our family receives is sweet golden Illinois honey.
